The President Cocktail

To go along with our podcast, Rodham by Curtis Sittenfeld, we made two slightly different cocktails called The President and El Presidente. We mentioned that we would put them up on the blog so that you could enjoy them too.

El Presidente is the one Jaclyn was sipping on. It calls for:

1 1/2 ounces of white rum
3/4 ounce orange curacao
3/4 ounce dry vermouth
Splash of grenadine

Full confession: we did not have orange curacao. We only had blue. So the drink looked like blue Kool-Aid. And, I’m not sure Jaclyn was a fan. I think the dry vermouth didn’t go well with the other flavors. You can read the history behind this drink here. It’s actually pretty interesting.

The President is the one I was sipping on. It calls for:

2 ounces white rum
1 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice
1/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/4 ounce grenadine

Full confession: This was delicious! And I feel really guilty that Jaclyn didn’t have the delicious drink that I did. I owe her for taking one for the team. You can read about this one here.

As always, thanks for reading! Hope you give them a try!

P.S. Another confession: it’s a lot of rum in one drink. Your lips will pucker. Drink responsibly.
