Lit Review – Thick as Thieves by Sandra Brown

Who doesn’t love a good Sandra Brown novel? Fast-paced, easy to read, likeable characters, a little bit of romance mixed in with a little bit of suspense. And, this one hits all those marks.

Arden Maxwell has returned to her hometown that she left 20 years ago. Twenty years ago her father disappeared and left her and her sister to fend for themselves. Their father was under suspicion for robbing a store, suspected of killing one of his accomplices, and running off with all of the money.

Ledge Burnet was one of the accomplices caught up in the incident as a high school student. When he sees Arden is back in town, he tries to stay far away from her. But, when Arden’s presence stirs up fear of someone finding out what really happened that night, he is “forced” to step in and try to protect her.

There was a twist at the end that I so did not see coming. And then another one that I didn’t see coming! I love books like that. Two twists! You don’t usually get surprises like that in romantic suspense novels.

Go ahead. Give it a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
