Chick Lit

So here’s a secret.

I read total fluff.

My favorite genre is Chick Lit.

I find that Chick Lit characters have the best “voices”. Authentic, original, down-to-earth, and many times, very funny. They are usually such relatable characters.

Some of my  favorite authors and titles you should give a whirl are:

Sophie Kinsella – Of course the Shopaholic series is a must but her stand-alones – Surprise Me and Wedding Night are probably my faves. Fun Fact: Author Madeline Wickham is Sophie Kinsella. Try some of those too, though not as light and a little deep.

Meg Cabot – The Boy series – The Boy Next Door, Boy Meets Girl, Every Boy’s Got One, The Boy is Back – is a lot of fun, told through email.

Emily Giffin –  Something Borrowed and Something Blue. Be sure to watch the movie based on the book Something Borrowed starring Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, and John Krasinski. It’s so good. I keep waiting for them to make a movie out of Something Blue, but they haven’t done it yet.

Beth Harbison – Shoe Addicts series. Make sure to catch the Hallmark movie Shoe Addict’s Christmas with Candace Bure.

Mary Kay Andrews – My favorite part about Mary Kay Andrews books is the setting in the south. I do have her cookbook – The Beach House Cookbook – and it is a really good one. The recipes are tasty!  Fun Fact: Mary Kay has two vacation homes on Tybee Island that she rents out! Can you imagine staying in the home of a famous author?

Elin Hilderbrand – Again, my favorite part about Elin Hildebrand books is the setting of Nantucket. But my favorite title has always been Beautiful Day. Until now. I just finished reading 28 Summers and loved it!!
