I, too, was inspired by apple cider cocktails. I mean it’s fall, right? And that means apple cider, caramel apples, doughnuts from the cider mill, moldy leaves, and cool, crisp air.
I have had apple cider on my mind lately – mainly because it goes really well with hot apple cinnamon doughnuts. But I have also been thinking about what kind of cocktail I can make with apple cider.
I do like Jaclyn’s Boozy Cider recipe but I’m not a fan of whiskey, bourbon, or rum.
Vodka is my go to spirit. Tito’s vodka, in fact.
So I started searching for recipes with vodka and apple cider. Tito’s website did not disappoint. Tito’s has a recipe for a cocktail called Spiced Cider Mule. It’s vodka, spiced apple cider, and ginger beer. Yum!
I have to admit I didn’t read the instructions closely. I thought it was just calling for apple cider. Apparently, I missed the word “spiced”. So it took me a little longer to make the recipe than anticipated since I had to “spice” the cider.
And I tweaked the recipe a bit.
It calls for the drink to be warm since, technically, you just warmed the cider up to “spice” it, but my ginger beer was cold. So I ended up with a very lukewarm drink. I feel cider should be either hot or cold, nothing in between.
So I added ice to my drink to make it cold. And I added a bit more cider than the recipe called for as I felt the ginger beer was a bit too strong for my tastes.
It was tasty and a great alternative to those who might not like the bourbon, whiskey, rum spirits.
Enjoy!
